Early Years Provision

A warm welcome to Acorn’s Class!

Acorns class is the happy and creative home of Reception and Year 1 at Temple Ewell CEP School. The Acorns team of outstanding practitioners enable creative and inspiring learning opportunities for the Acorns children in partnership with our parents and carers and the wider school and village communities.

We follow the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for the Reception Children, learning through play and focused learning opportunities. The children have the opportunity to guide the learning and often work collaboratively, enabling them to build their independence, thinking skills and communication and language skills. We provide the children with opportunities to become resilient, capable, confident and self-assured with a love for learning through a range of learning opportunities and really knowing our children and developing positive relationships with them.

It is important to the Acorns Team that our children have a rich and varied learning experience. We focus on providing opportunities for the children to flourish and reach their full potential. Learning throughout the year is enhanced with educational visits and visitors, for example Kearsney Abbey the Turner gallery, Dover Castle, Wingham Wildlife Park, etc.

Transition is very important to us at Temple Ewell CEP School. There is a thorough programme to support the children as they move into school and this rigorous approach continues as the children move through the year groups and beyond into Secondary school.

The greatest recommendation we could have is that of the children…

"I like playing with all my friends and the grown ups." (Grace)

"I love school and doing Drawing Club. It makes me learn good writing, it's fun" (Jackson)

"School is good because you get to learn stuff every day." (Elodie)

"I love learning to read because it makes me happier and happier." (Gigi)

“I like doing maths with the grown ups, they make it really fun” (Bella)
